Yesterday, when I walked to the Mission Trail, a 35-acre heavily wooded park by the Carmel Mission, I was greeted at the entrance by a very unusual mouse (it looked like a dormouse). First, it was out in the bright sun, somewhat fearless in its behavior. Secondly, it hopped when it moved. Next, the trail map had a honey bee stuck on it. The bee was alive, but content on staying put. A few minutes later I saw a squirrel with the longest tail I’ve ever witnessed. Climate change?
