Bird on Guard…

bird-mail

My mailbox was guarded by a small bird yesterday, and for the first time in a month, I didn’t receive any political ads. I was struck by how the bird’s legs matched the metal clasp on the box. A sign?

For me this election, from local issues to the run for the presidency has been marked by distortions of the truth. But this is not a new dynamic, only one that is becoming more pronounced. The real fear I have is that it is easier for a growing number or people to be angry than compassionate in this country–they don’t see the innocence of a bird on the mailbox.
