Carmel Tragedy…

carmel-drowning

We were walking along the Carmel coast the day after Christmas around noon when we heard the sirens. The usual array of fire trucks passed along with a beach rescue vehicle–this was a serious call.  We headed towards the flashing lights. I took this photo with my phone of an area where scuba divers normally enter the ocean. A brawny man in a wet suit was being helped up by a rescue worker. We later found out that one diver in a party of four was dead–according to news reports, he had a medical issue on his way to the dive point which was just beyond the last crop of rocks  on the top right of this photo. The waters were rough on this day and the divers returned to shore exhausted.Very sad.
