This flower is 20 feet from our beehive, so I assumed the “bee” I was about to photograph was a visitor. After enlarging the shot I realized this was a hoverfly–it looks like a honey bee, loves flowers, but doesn’t sting, instead, it eats aphids and other garden pests. Hoverflies are welcomed in our garden.
