I have a bias against taking photos at a zoo. The wildlife are captive. You can use a tripod rather than sneaking up on a bird, say, in the woods. Sure, the photos may come up sharper when the subject is confined, but the backstory is much less than the effort made to keep your balance in a tree while clicking. Still, these shots I took at the Sacramento Zoo capture the “eyes” in a focused manner that would probably escape me on the outside. The eyes definitely have it, this time.
