The beach at Carmel-by-the Sea attracts tourists from around the world. The other nearby public beach at the end of Carmel River is often an afterthought despite its postcard beauty and a free parking lot. I assume the biggest drawback to ” the other beach” is that it isn’t a short walk from the many Carmel hotels and cottages that accommodate visitors. Also, the undertow is quite strong–not safe for most waders. And, dogs are not allowed off leash here. Finally, this second choice beach is usually windier than its popular counterpart. But I like its bowl curve, the mountains behind it and the absence of crowds. On a calm summer’s day at low tide, this is one of California’s best beaches.

Beautiful shots on this blog! I run a more scientific type of blog but you may still want to stop by for some inspiration. 🙂
