I couldn’t get a clear shot of what I believe is a California bi-colored blackbird, a subspecies of the Red-winged blackbird. I had about a minute to take these shots at a West Sacramento pond before the bird flew away. It was camera shy.

I didn’t know the Red-winged had subspecies. 🙂

Got info from a bird website that says in California the red-winged has no yellow border.
