The Egret and I

I was walking along a deserted beach, meaning I was the only human in sight, when I caught a glimpse of an egret behind some ocean boulders. I took a few shots before it disappeared. Further on I spotted the egret again. How do I know it was the same one? This was the only egret around until…I walked a little further.
