White-crowned sparrows were running rampant this week  in the neighborhood. Not exaggerating. These birds are a little like quails in that they like to walk and hop  in and out of thickets. Our front yard is one big thicket.

I would have thought of a different name to describe this bird. The yellow beak is prominent while the white on the head shares space with black. Yellow-beaked black and white crowned sparrow. There may be too many words for one bird, but the name may be more fitting for those of use who believe in global unity, the truth, etc.
