
The California Scrub-Jays in my backyard don’t look like the air-brushed birds in catalogues. This one is a bit ruffled after taking a bath. It appears angry to me because I’m taking this photo. But the bird is nice and leaves the menacing crows alone–they control the oak trees around here. In brief, the backyard is for the exclusive use of these scrub-jays, or so I’ve been warned.
