Blinded by a Flower

I find it hard to look at this flower, it is too…yellow/orange bright…for this time of year. Note the raindrops…took this shot shortly after the sun came out during one of those coastal on again off again drizzles. Furthermore, I don’t see any honeybees around this plant although they are buzzing the rosemary a few feet away–so maybe it’s too bright for them as well. This flower—and I don’t know what it is called–survived a wind/rain storm that toppled cypress trees up and down the block. Amazing! I will have to research the background on this indestructible flower, or maybe write a science fiction piece… Updates to come.
