Squirrel on a cliff overlooking Carmel-by-the Sea beach.

I’ve always thought that squirrels that live by the ocean are more contemplative than their counterparts in the city. It is common to see an ocean squirrel staring at the vistas while city critters have rooftops to scale and trees to climb when dogs approach. Come to think of it, sea gulls, pelicans and the like gaze at the ocean all day long. And people look out to sea with their thoughts. Peace.
