A red dragonfly and a blue dragonfly met yesterday on the remaining stem of a spent water lily in a pond at William Land Park, Sacramento. I’d come to take a few photos of the large expanse of lilies, but, instead saw dozens of dragonflies, mostly red ones, flying around. These busy insects are attracted to the lilies and while there, they devour mosquitoes, much to the delight of park users.
The red dragonfly was on the stem alone for about ten seconds when the blue counterpart arrived. They stayed in this position for over a minute, a long time in insect world. I appreciated it.
