Growing up I used to see a neighbor’s parrot on a regular basis. As a small kid I imagined that parrots were as common as robins. But then a half-century passed without any parrot contact except that in movies. However, over the last five years through photography I’ve reconnected with birds I thought were parrot-like. The lesson here is that a child knows what he imagines until adult rules and boundaries flatten the world he has created growing up. The parrots never went away, only the child departed.
