The Washington Monument is in the background with pedestrian “monuments” at the crosswalk that leads to the US Capitol where the impeachment of President Trump is now underway. However, I took this shot five years ago when I was fortunate to be in the house chambers for President Obama’s State of the Union address that embodied “hope.” Will our nation ever heal from the politics of hate so prevalent today?
