Sunlit Memory

Sunlit Memory

Sunlight entered the room,

Or was I outside

With a woman I couldn’t remember,

Details erased by everything it struck.

I could only stare

And try to place how

I knew her.

Lowered the shade,

Or shieled my eyes

And blinked

Until her face was clear

And comforting even though

I was alone

And thinking backwards.

We had dated once,

Maybe even married.
