
The business is gone but the building remains in the heart of a Sacramento neighborhood. With the pandemic still in play, I assume there won’t be anything done to this place in the near future. I used to buy gifts from Japan inside–there was never a line. There were buckets to catch raindrops. But the space had a calm feel to it, saying something like “I’m just old, that’s all.”
That is Ivan’s reflection at the top of the photo and my head at the bottom–looking inside from the sidewalk. Interestingly, he is standing behind me.
