Yesterday, I tried to will butterflies other than the cabbage white into our backyard by setting up my camera on a tripod . Strike three on the black! I got nothing but the cabbage white which has always been hard for me to capture because it is small, moves frequently and its white wings go flat in the sun. I can’t use auto focus because by the time the cabbage white is in focus, it moves–had to go manual. I did get one sharp photo that unfortunately also included one very distracting leaf in the center. Whatever.
