I haven’t posted in 44 days. Please don’t read into the delay. Instead, I want to briefly discuss a track meet I attended yesterday at a high school in Sacramento. I took photos of Aidan, my grandson and an eighth-grader who is long jumper and sprinter. The photos were fine. Aidan did well. But the sun was punishing. To think I once could run full tilt in hot weather. I am clearly too old to run in the heat, and, in fact, too old to sit anywhere but in the shade. The games have changed for me to slow walks and slower walks. It is common to see a ten-degree difference between the actual temperature and the higher “feels like” temperature. Climate change is the other track meet that we appear to be losing.

Aidan is very good long jumper with good form and consistency.
