Sunlit Room

Sunlight entered the room

Like someone I couldn’t remember,

Details erased by everything

It struck, so I could only stare

And try to place how

I knew this person.

Lowered the shade

And blinked

Until her face was clear

And comforting even though

I was alone

And thinking backwards.

We had dated once,

Maybe even married.
