In the Eye of the Pelican

DSC_0112 - Copy (2) - CopyYesterday hundreds of pelicans landed at Carmel River State Beach. They are presumably migrating from Canada to warmer waters. I went in the middle of the gathering to get these shots.

Pelicans land in the fresh water of the Carmel River, about  300 feet from the Pacific Ocean.
I walked into the center of this mix of pelicans and sea gulls.

    1. 1967 was a year of profound developments for me; from a first love (didn’t work out) to abandoning fun for serious academics (unfortunately, I was starting my senior year in college, so I was a very late bloomer). In brief, it was the year I woke up.
